Linklaters partners with Crowdcube

Crowdcube, a UK equity crowdfunding platform, has formed an exclusive 12 month partnership with Linklaters to be its legal advisor for the ongoing service delivery to technology companies post-funding.

Fintech is Crowdcube’s biggest growth area, having raised GBP53 million in investment for fintech companies in 2017 and has worked with companies such as GoHenry, Money Dashboard, Monzo, Revolut, Chip, FreeTrade, Squirrel, WiseAlpha, Babb, Nebeus and Fourex. This partnership is central to Crowdcube’s strategy of establishing longer term relationships with clients through the ongoing service delivery beyond initial funding.

The agreement will allow Linklaters to support a select number of tech companies and provide access to invaluable legal advice at a time when they most need it.

The selection of companies qualifying for post funding support will be by mutual agreement between Crowdcube and Linklaters. Companies also shortlisted for the recently announced Thrive for Fintech: investment programme will also qualify for this support.

The partnership will provide Linklaters with exposure to new, exciting and emerging tech and fintech companies. These relationships will provide invaluable market insight into companies that have the potential to influence and reshape the future of many traditional industries in which it already has an established presence of providing legal advice. It will also place it in an ideal position to identify developments in the rapidly evolving area of LegalTech.

Nicola Rabson, partner at Linklaters, says: “The partnership provides a fantastic opportunity for both Linklaters and Crowdcube to establish longer term relationships with the most exciting emerging technology companies. It will also provide the type of broader support that these companies need to establish themselves at the earliest stages in their development in order to give them the best chance to flourish and grow into the tech giants of tomorrow.”
