Webinar to focus on PE fundraising

Attention all those currently in fundraising mode: this week’s newsletter has news of an upcoming webinar on 18 September focusing on industry best practices. Joining the discussion will be a selection of established and emerging managers including: Osman Qureshi, Managing Partner & Co-Founder First Alpha Energy Capital; Tatyana Kratunova, Product Strategy PE, FIS; Robert Spittler, Managing Director of the Silverfern Group and Ryan Parker, CFO, Mercato.

To find out what lessons they’ve learned from previous fund launches, what some of the best practices are for attracting the right LPs, and what role technology can play to improve the fundraising process, register here.

In other news, a study by MJ Hudson finds that managers are committing 3 per cent capital or more to their own funds. It also finds that GPs have flexibility when it comes to co-investing. Only 43 per cent of the funds that contemplate co-investments in their LPAs require co-investment to be on substantially similar terms as the fund’s investment.

Other research out this week – this time from Refinitiv – reveals that European companies raised a record-breaking EUR10.6 billion of venture capital during the first six months of 2019, a 61 per cent increase year-on-year.

Back on the theme of fundraising, we also have news of a new community bank-focused investment fund from Ford Financial which has closed with commitments of USD1 billion, plus a USD1.85 billion fund from Freeman Spogli & Co.
