Prime Capital further expands aviation activities
Prime Capital AG has again expanded its offering to invest in the aviation market. With a financing volume of more than USD 1 billion in more than 200 aircraft, the independent asset manager and financial services provider has become one of the leading German investment managers in the aviation financing market.
Building on this success, the company will now also facilitate equity investments in aircraft, together with its strategic partner 360 Aircraft Finance GmbH (360AF). The five-member 360AF possesses comprehensive commercial and technical expertise and can draw on many years of successful track record, as well as a broad network across all areas of the aviation industry.
Prime Capital already manages several mandates that invest in aircraft debt financing. The new investment opportunities on the equity side now offer investors additional opportunities to participate in the attractive aviation market with tailor-made risk/return profiles.
The growth momentum in the aviation market is supported not only by long-term and stable macroeconomic trends, but also by far-reaching fleet renewals in the wake of technical innovations and the associated increases in efficiency. In addition, airlines’ dynamically changing business models are the backbone of strong demand for new aircraft.
"With 360AF, we have found a partner that is well positioned to further strengthen our existing in-house expertise due to its professional experience and the broad background of all the people involved. With our significantly expanded offering, we are now in a position to offer institutional investors tailor-made solutions for investing across the entire capital structure in the aviation sector," says Andreas Kalusche, Member of the Board and Head of Client Solutions at Prime Capital AG.
Ulf Gedamke, Managing Director of 360 Aircraft Finance, explains: "With Prime Capital, we have been able to attract one of the leading providers of alternative investment solutions in Germany, which has already been able to successfully address innovative investment themes on several occasions thanks to its institutional set-up, its experience and its access to institutional investors both in Germany and abroad. My colleagues and I look forward to making our aviation equity expertise available to institutional clients through this cooperation."
The aviation market offers interesting investment opportunities for a wide variety of investor groups such as insurance companies, pension funds and family offices. Whereas only few European institutional investors have already invested in the aviation market, other regions are more advanced. In light of the risk/return profile that the current market environment has to offer, it will likely only be a matter of time until also European investors will consider the attractive opportunity set the aircraft financing market has to offer.
