GSK Stockmann adds to Luxembourg investment funds practice

GSK Stockmann has added to its investment funds practice in Luxembourg with the hiring of Dr Marcel Bartnik as local partner, effective January 2020.

Bartnik has extensive experience in the Luxembourg investment fund industry. He has been working in Luxembourg for close to 15 years, advising institutional clients, private equity firms, investment houses and high-net-worth individuals across the corporate, real estate, private equity and finance sectors both in Luxembourg and internationally. His main areas of expertise include fund formation and structuring advice for alternative investment funds (AIF) as well as traditional retail (UCITS) funds, including AIFMs and management companies. In addition, he regularly assists clients in fund related transactions and general investment fund and regulatory law matters.

With both German and French law degrees, Bartnik is ideally suited to the international nature of investment fund mandates in Luxembourg. Prior to joining GSK Stockmann, he worked for a renowned international law firm and many years at a top-tier Luxembourg independent law firm. He is admitted to the bars in Luxembourg and Germany. He will be joined by Senior Associate Corinna Schumacher.
“We are delighted to welcome Dr Marcel Bartnik and Corinna Schumacher to our team. Their strong experience in the field of investment funds and regulatory law as well as their deep expertise of Luxembourg investment structures will benefit our international client base in particular in relation to cross-border fund transactions,” says Dr Marcus Peter, Partner at GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg. “We are looking forward to working with the new team members who will further strengthen our capabilities to provide seamless advice out of our German and Luxembourg offices. We wish them a great start at GSK Stockmann,” adds Robert Kramer, Partner and Co-Head of the Funds sector at GSK Stockmann in Munich.
“I am excited about starting at GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg, together with my long-term colleague Corinna Schumacher, and am looking forward to working with a strong team on challenging and complex projects,” says Bartnik.
The office of GSK Stockmann in Luxembourg opened in 2016 with four partners and has since grown to a team of 25 fee earners focussing on Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, Corporate and M&A, Private Equity, Investment Funds, Real Estate, Regulatory, Insurance, and Tax.
