Cavendish appoints new partner

Cavendish Corporate Finance, a UK-based sell-side mid-market M&A firm and part of the finnCap Group, as appointed technology M&A specialist Anthony Platt as a Partner in its Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) team.

Platt brings 17 years’ corporate finance experience predominately in TMT, spanning venture capital fundraising, private equity growth financing, MBOs, IPOs, M&A, restructuring assignments and carve out transactions, completing an aggregate deal value in excess of GBP5 billion.

For the last 12 years he has focused specifically on M&A within the technology sector, including significant experience in SaaS software, on-premise software, vertical applications, ICT services, hosting, cyber security, IoT and AI transactions.

Platt joins Cavendish from leading accounting and consulting firm Grant Thornton, where he spent six years as Technology M&A Director with responsibility for advising clients in the TMT sector on corporate finance and M&A transactions, building a sustainable pipeline of opportunities across the software and services sector, leading transactions and developing trusted advisor status based on sector expertise.

His arrival at Cavendish builds on the success of the firm’s TMT team, which has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Deals which the team has advised on include the sale in August this year of fast-growing legal SaaS firm CaseLines to Thomson Reuters, as the business intelligence and information firm looked to expand its cloud-based software offering within the legal sector.

Sam Smith, Chief Executive of finnCap Group plc, says: “I am delighted to welcome Anthony to Cavendish and the wider finnCap Group, and I look forward to working with him as we build on continued success in the technology sector. Anthony brings extensive experience, great sector knowledge and a thirst for helping precisely the types of ambitious growth businesses who the finnCap Group specialise in supporting with a full suite of financial services.”

John Farrugia, Partner and Head of Technology at Cavendish Corporate Finance, comments: “Anthony will make a great addition to our successful TMT team and our mission to get the best possible outcomes for our clients. He joins as we expect to see continued M&A activity in tech sector over the rest of 2020, meaning more opportunities for UK mid-market tech firms to deliver their business ambition.”

Platt says: “I am very excited to be joining Cavendish and the finnCap Group at what is an exciting time for both the UK TMT sector and the Cavendish TMT team. It is a privilege to be able to provide best in class advice to leading tech entrepreneurs as they take their businesses to the next level, and I look forward to helping the firm and our clients continue to grow.”
