Squire Patton Boggs promotes two corporate lawyers to Partner

Squire Patton Boggs has promoted senior lawyers Louise Barber and Mae Salem to Partner.

Barber has a particular focus on cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions (including public takeovers), equity capital markets transactions, joint ventures and corporate governance. From an M&A perspective, her experience includes advising UK, US and European companies on cross-border public and private transactions, and her capital markets experience includes advising on a number of initial public offering (IPO) and secondary fundraising transactions on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market and AIM.

Barber has advised on a number of high-profile transactions, most recently advising ECI Partners as selling shareholder on the GBP600 million main market IPO of Auction Technology Group plc.

Salem has considerable experience in advising on private company acquisitions and disposals, in particular in the private equity space. Most recently, Salem advised Endless on its investment in Amscan International and advised the shareholders of the IDHL Group on their sale to Bridgepoint Development Capital. She is shortlisted for the Emerging Dealmaker Award at the 2021 Insider Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards.

Tony Reed, EMEA Chair of the Global Corporate Practice, says: “Louise and Mae are exceptionally talented lawyers who have established very strong reputations in the corporate market. They have played a key role in the growth of our practice and we are delighted to recognise their achievements by promoting them into the partnership. We wish Louise and Mae every continued success.”

Barber and Salem join the growing partner ranks of Squire Patton Boggs’ Corporate Practice. This year, the firm has added two partners in London: Julian Thatcher joined from private equity investment firm MHMK Capital Group and Fergus Gallagher from McDermott Will & Emery, with Matthew Powell joining the firm’s UAE Corporate Practice from Shearman & Sterling and Dr Rüdiger Herrmann joining the Frankfurt team from McDermott Will & Emery.
