Alantra appoints Tommaso Ferrari as head of its Italian Investment Banking business

Alantra, a global investment banking and asset management specialist, has appointed Tommaso Ferrari as Managing Partner to lead its Investment Banking division in Italy.

Ferrari brings to the role more than 20 years of experience in investment banking, strategy consulting and private equity in the Italian market. This includes market-leading transactions on behalf of Autogrill, Borsa Italiana, Dea Capital, Diasorin, Ducati, Italgas, Fincantieri, Finmeccanica, IlSole24Ore, Illimity Bank, MZB Group, NB Aurora, and OVS, as well as a range of SME companies in support of their expansion in Italy and internationally.

Ferrari joins Alantra from UBI Banca, where he led the M&A, Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Debt Capital Markets (DCM) teams as Co-Head of Corporate Finance.  Prior to UBI, he worked at Banca IMI in London and Milan as part of the ECM team playing a pivotal role in developing the SPACs in the Italian market, raising more than EUR2.5 billion. Ferrari was also part of UBS’s Retail & Consumer team in London and a director of the Italian Coverage Team in Milan. He started his career in 2001 at Mediobanca in the M&A team.

The appointment further strengthens Alantra’s specialist service offering in Italy, where it has more than 30 professionals devoted to M&A, Debt, Equity Capital Markets, and Credit Portfolio Advisory. In the last three years, Alantra has advised on over 35 transactions for a total volume of more than EUR3.1 billion in Italy, including the sales of CMC International to KKR, Vivaticket to Investcorp, Gilde Buy Out Partner’s Riri Group to Chequers Capital, KKR’s Sistemia to MCS-DSO Group, L&S to Clessidra, iGuzzini Illuminazione to AB Fagerhult, and Taplast to TriMas Corporation. Alantra also advised the IPOs of Sanlorenzo Yacht and Almawave on the Italian AIM market, among others.
