EQT Ventures backs Vev

EQT Ventures has led a EUR5 million seed funding round into Vev – a visual editor for content creators to build and launch interactive websites.

EQT Ventures has led a EUR5 million seed funding round into Vev — a visual editor for content creators to build and launch interactive websites.

Existing investors Sagene Tech Ventures and Skyfall Ventures also participated in the round. Discovered by EQT Ventures’ proprietary AI platform Motherbrain, Vev is EQT Ventures’ first Norwegian investment.

Vev creates streamlined workflows for creating and launching interactive web content for all aspects of the web design process: developers, designers and content creators, by combining code and no-code. Its clients consist of agencies and large organisations, incuding Netflix, Osprey and The Economist.

Founded by Tine Karlsen (CEO), Nicolay Thafvelin (CTO), and Fredrik Evjen Eklis (CPO), the team met in 2013 while working at a digital design and publishing firm. They witnessed the issue of developers being siloed from designers and content creators; so in order to solve this, they founded Vev in 2017.

The platform intends to create a new industry standard for visual web design, and the fresh capital will be used to launch its platform to the public, invest in product development, and scale its commercial team.

“We are entering a new era of visual web design, where we are bringing together code and no-code to allow unlimited creative freedom through frictionless collaboration between designers and developers in one platform,” said Tine Karlsen, CEO and co-founder at Vev. “Designers, developers, and content creators can now collaborate using Vev when building and launching interactive websites,” she added.

The market of visual web design is ripe for revolution, and Vev is well positioned to empower enterprises and professionals to create digital experiences quickly and collaboratively, according to EQT Ventures, which is the venture capital arm of the Swedish company EQT Partners.

“Vev is part of the next wave of groundbreaking tools that is entering the ecosystem, bound to propel a shift in visual web design,” said Sandra Malmberg, investment manager at EQT Ventures.
