Redington broadens private markets capabilities with new hire

Tricia Ward has joined Redington’s manager research team as a director for private markets as the firm continues to broaden its capabilities across the asset class.

She will report to Head of Manager Research, Nick Samuels, and joins a now seven strong team dedicated to covering alternatives and private markets. In total Redington’s manager research team spans over 22 people. Assets under advisory across the firm stand at over GBP500 billion.

Ward joins from the Greater Manchester Pension Fund where she was a senior investment manager responsible for private credit research and portfolio construction as well as development of its ESG framework.

She brings over 10 years investment banking and independent boutique investment experience, specialising across the alternative and private lending investment space. Previous experience includes eight years with boutique manager, Absolute Return Partners, where she most latterly held the role of Head of Investments, as well as being a Partner at the firm. Prior to this she also held roles at KBC Alternative Investment Management between 2004 to 2008 as well as Goldman Sachs International between 1999 to 2004. She is a chartered accountant.

Ward is the 30th hire Redington has made this year, following appointments such as Nick Blake as Director of Wealth, Jill Davy as Head of LGPS, and of sustainable specialists Paul Lee and Anastasia Guha. This news comes in response to continued client demand across its wealth, core and global business channels as well as for its proprietary ADA technology platform.

Ward comments: “Redington’s manager research team has an enviable reputation for uncovering global talent and providing clients with best-in-class managers, tailored to their individual portfolio needs. I’m excited to build on the existing experience within the team and expand our capabilities in this area as we look to help drive client investment solutions and returns through access to differentiated alternative and private market strategies.”

Samuels adds: “Tricia shares our passion for delivering clients with the best possible outcomes and I’m excited to add her experience in both investment research and implementation to our existing team of talented analysts.

“Over the last five years, we have focused our research on those strategies that align with both our own, and clients’, principles and commitments as a sustainable investor. Tricia’s experience at both Manchester Pension fund and throughout her career will help bolster our capabilities as we continue to search for solutions which can help clients generate better returns, improve portfolio diversification and contribute to a net-zero economy.”
