White & Case advises Carlyle Group on LiveU acquisition

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised The Carlyle Group on its acquisition of LiveU from Francisco Partners.

“Our team helped to successfully navigate this strategic investment, which will enable Carlyle to continue to support the growth of media tech companies and LiveU to reach new customers,” says White & Case partner Ken Barry, who led the Firm’s deal team. “Advising on this deal highlights White & Case’s expertise at the crossroads of the private equity and fast growing technology industry.”

The investment was made by Carlyle Europe Technology Partners (CETP) IV, a EUR1.35 billion fund that invests in small and middle market technology-focused opportunities in Europe and the US.

Founded in 2006, LiveU is the pioneer of a bonded cellular technology-based live video transmission platform, offered to major live broadcast news networks and sports content owners globally. It provides an end-to-end solution combining acquisition, cloud production and IP distribution to broadcasters, sports organisations and production companies where reliability, quality, availability and low latency are key.

The White & Case team which advised on the transaction was led by partner Ken Barry (London) and included partners Colin Harley (London), Scott Fryman and Victoria Rosamond (both New York) and associates Will Summers (London) and Andrea Petersen (Dubai).
