Maryland makes $1.6bn alternatives allocation

The Maryland State Retirement & Pension System has made a new $1.6 billion allocation to 12 alternative investment managers managers, according to a report by Pensions & Investments.

The Maryland State Retirement & Pension System has made a new $1.6 billion allocation to 12 alternative investment managers managers, according to a report by Pensions & Investments.

According to documents from a recent board meeting, the $68.8 billion pension fund committed the funds between January and May including a $125 million allocation to Vista Equity Partners Fund VIII, $110 million to Advent International GPE X, $110 million to Green Equity Investors IX, $60 million to Jade Equity Investors II, $100 million to Audax Private Equity Fund VII, and $40 million to Audax Private Equity Origins Fund I.

In addition, Maryland has made venture capital allocations of $100 million Lightspeed Opportunity Fund II, $20 million to Lightspeed Venture Partners XIV and $10 million to Lightspeed Venture Partners Select V, and $40 million to Frazier Life Sciences XI, plus two co-investments of $2 million and $3 million associated with IVP XVII, a venture capital fund managed by Institutional Venture Partners, and two co-investments of $2 million and $3 million associated with IVP XVII, a venture capital fund managed by Institutional Venture Partners.
