Brian Desmond

Director and Head of Fund Services

Brian Desmond (Brian) is the Chief Strategy Officer and Head of Fund Services at Horseshoe Insurance Services Holdings Ltd. (“Horseshoe Group”). The Horseshoe Group is a leading independent fund administrator and insurance manager dedicated to both the Insurance Linked Securities and the alternative fund markets, with offices in Bermuda, Cayman Islands, USA, Gibraltar and Ireland.

The Horseshoe Group acquired IKONIC Fund Services Ltd. (IKONIC) in June 2016. Brian was one of the principal founders, a director and COO/CFO of IKONIC, a specialist fund administration company, established and licensed in Bermuda in 2007, offering fund administration outsourcing solutions to a wide range of global investment managers adopting a diverse range of investment styles. IKONIC’s product offering specializes in hedge funds, fund of hedge funds, private equity funds and ILS funds.

Brian has over 24 years of fund administration and audit experience. Prior to setting up IKONIC, Brian was the Bermuda Country Head at Citigroup Fund Services (Bermuda) Ltd. (formerly Forum Fund Services Ltd.) where he gained extensive experience in fund administration and was responsible for overseeing the fund accounting, shareholder services, audit and Net Asset Value preparation for global clients. He was also responsible for managing all new client implementations from an operational perspective and for establishing standards, controls and procedures for all North American operations.

Prior to joining Citigroup, Brian worked as an audit senior in the investment group of Ernst & Young. He is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) and acts as director of a number of offshore fund companies.

Scott Burns

Head of Private Equity

Scott Burns (Scott) is a Senior Vice President and Head of Private Equity Fund Services at Horseshoe Insurance Services Holdings Ltd. (“Horseshoe Group”). The Horseshoe Group is a leading independent fund administrator and insurance manager dedicated to both the Insurance Linked Securities and the alternative fund markets, with offices in Bermuda, Cayman Islands, USA, Gibraltar and Ireland.

The Horseshoe Group acquired IKONIC Fund Services Ltd. (IKONIC) in June 2016. Scott joined IKONIC in 2012 as a Senior Vice President. IKONIC is a specialist fund administration company, established and licensed in Bermuda in 2007, offering fund administration outsourcing solutions to a wide range of global investment managers adopting a diverse range of investment styles. IKONIC’s product offering specializes in hedge funds, fund of hedge funds, private equity funds and ILS funds.

Scott has over 25 years of fund administration and audit & tax experience. Prior to joining IKONIC in 2012, Scott was the Head of Bermuda Operations for JP Morgan Private Equity Fund Services (“JPM”) where he gained extensive experience in fund administration and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Bermuda operations. He was also responsible for managing all new client implementations from an operational perspective and for establishing standards, controls and procedures for the Bermuda group.

Prior to joining JPM, Scott worked as tax senior in the investment group of KPMG and is a CPA.
