Francois Pfister

Partner

François is the Practice Partner of Ogier’s Luxembourg office which he founded in 2012 and is the Global Head of Ogier’s Private Equity team.

François graduated from the University of Strasbourg (France) and obtained several degrees in law, economy, finance and political science.

He began his career in 1986 with KPMG as tax adviser and Svenska Handelsbanken as legal counsel. After having acted as head of legal and tax for the RTL group, he joined Fidelity Investments as senior legal counsel for continental Europe and was thereafter a senior partner at OPF Partners for 12 years.

François has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1991 and is also a member of The Monterey Funds Club, an alliance of specialist investment fund lawyers across Europe. He is a member of several working groups within ALFI (Luxembourg Fund Association) and of the Luxembourg Private Equity Association (LPEA).

François is a regular speaker at conferences globally. He is currently teaching a module at the IFBL (Institut de Formation Bancaire, Luxembourg) on the “international structuring of real estate investment funds” and “AIFMD”.

He is nominated as one of the world’s leading practitioners in the Who’sWho Private Funds 2014 for Luxembourg and is recommended in the Legal 500 EMEA 2014 for the investment funds practice. He is also a director of several regulated investment funds.

A Luxembourg national, he speaks many languages including; English, French, German and Luxembourgish

Simon Schilder

Partner

Simon is a partner and Head of the Investment Funds practice at the BVI office whose practice covers cross border and multi jurisdictional mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, equity capital markets, joint ventures and investment funds. Prior to joining Ogier, Simon practiced at Lovells in London.

Simon is a member of the Securities, Investment Business and Mutual Funds Advisory Committee, established by the Financial Services Commission to advise it on the maintenance and development of the BVI’s securities, investment business and funds industry.

Simon is Chairman of the BVI Investment Funds Association.

Simon attended the University of Southampton and graduated with a BSc in Economics and Politics in 1994. Simon then went on to take the CPE in 1995 and LPC in 1996 at the College of Law, London.

Giorgio Subiotto

Partner

Giorgio joined Ogier in 2002 and became a partner in 2006. He is Head of Ogier’s Global Latin American practice, Head of Global Investment Funds and Head of Ogier’s Private Client and Trusts Group in the Cayman Islands. Before this he practiced at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York (1998 to 2002), Pinheiro Neto – Advogados in Sao Paulo (1994 to 1995) and Linklaters in London and Paris (1992 to 1994 and 1995 to 1997).

Giorgio is a member of STEP and is a Notary Public in the Cayman Islands and a member of the Cayman Islands Law Society, the Law Society of England and Wales and the New York Bar Association.

He is fluent in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Giorgio is recognised by industry commentators as a specialist in his areas of expertise for the Cayman Islands.

Giorgio received his Diploma de Estudios Hispánicos from the University of Málaga, Spain in 1986; his Bachelor of Law, with Honours, from the University of London, King’s College, in 1990; Maîtrise en Droit, avec mention, from the University of Paris I, Panthéon-Sorbonne, in the same year; and Master of Law from University of Michigan Law School at Ann Arbor in 1992.

Niamh Lalor

Niamh works on a wide range of matters including fund formation, regulatory advice and real estate structuring. She has particular expertise in private equity, venture capital and fund marketing in Europe. Niamh is a specialist funds and regulatory lawyer – she is recognised as a leading lawyer in the IFLR 1000 2017 and is also ranked in The Legal 500 2016 and Chambers UK 2017.

Emily Haithwaite

Emily’s wide-ranging investment funds and financial services law experience has brought her recognition from clients and industry alike. She acts for a variety of banks and asset managers in the formation, listing and winding-up of funds, as well as for sovereign wealth funds, funds of funds and investors investing into Jersey funds. Her expertise spans private investment schemes and family office funds to general securities, infrastructure, hedge and private equity funds.
