Mid-market private equity firm Gresham has announced the appointment of Dan Hatcher, who has been working with Gresham on secondment from Ernst & Young since May 2007, as a partner in its investment team based in London.

Hatcher was part of the deal team who worked on the secondary buyout of Betts Global, a manufacturer of laminate toothpaste tubes, last October. Before the secondment he was a member of the mergers and acquisitions lead advisory team at Ernst & Young for six years, and he has also worked in transaction support and corporate restructuring.

While at Ernst and Young, Hatcher worked on various mid-market transactions in the industrial products and environmental sectors, including the sale of GE Commercial Aviation Training to Star Capital, advising management on the sale of Cory Environmental and the acquisition of Aspen Pumps by Inflexion Private Equity. He was also part of the team that advised Gresham on the acquisition of hydraulic components supplier Olaer in September 2005.

‘Dan has made a fantastic contribution over the past 12 months in what has been a record new investment period for Gresham, and has established himself as a key member of the investment team,’ says partner Christian Bruning.

Gresham specialises in UK mid-market deals typically with a value up to GBP100m, and has expertise in the business and support services, consumer, energy and environmental, financial services, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, and industrial products sectors.

The firm’s offices in London, Birmingham and Manchester provides local knowledge and a network of contacts essential to sourcing new deals and working with management teams across the UK.
