Howard Kennedy puts the wind into the sails of Hazel Capital’s renewable energy VCTs

Law firm Howard Kennedy and its regulated London Stock Exchange sponsor, Howard Kennedy Corporate Services, have advised Hazel Capital on the launch of two VCT funds with an exclusive focus on renewable energy.

The Hazel Renewable Energy VCT 1 and Hazel Renewable Energy VCT 2 prospectuses were launched on 18 February.

Sine 2010, Hazel Renewable Energy VCT funds have invested in large renewable energy projects, including solar and wind, that typically are not reliant on government subsidies. The VCT funds are now looking to invest in companies at the forefront of battery storage technology.

The Howard Kennedy team was led by Partner and Head of Capital Markets Keith Lassman, with support from associate Matthew Astbury and solicitor Sian Thomas.

Lassman (pictured) says: “We have acted for Hazel Capital for a number of years with regards its various VCT funds.  Its Renewable Energy funds have proven popular, successful and profitable, having almost doubled investors net funds over a five-year period, and we are delighted to be part of the 2016 team.”

In the 2014/15 tax year Howard Kennedy advised on 27 of the 33 VCT offers with a combined market value of GBP370 million.

Howard Kennedy has a dedicated team of partners and staff advising VCTs, both as legal adviser and as sponsor through its wholly owned FCA authorised subsidiary, Howard Kennedy Corporate Services. Howard Kennedy has been active in the VCT market place since 1997, listing well over 200 companies over that period.
