Jack Wing joins The Chicago Corporation as chairman emeritus

The Chicago Corporation, an independent investment banking firm focused on serving middle-market companies, has appointed John A. "Jack” Wing as chairman emeritus.

Wing served as chief executive officer and chairman of the board for The Chicago Corporation from 1981 until 1997 when the original company was sold to ABN Amro.

Several former members of The Chicago Corporation, along with a team of investment bankers and executives from a variety of industries, re-established The Chicago Corporation earlier this year to provide middle-market companies with a range of financial and corporate advisory services including mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital raising, and financial restructuring.

"Jack Wing played a pivotal role in helping Chicago become a global financial centre. He was also instrumental in growing The Chicago Corporation into a full-service regional investment banking and brokerage firm in the 80’s and 90’s,” says Phil Clarke III, a managing director of The Chicago Corporation who himself worked at the original company with Wing. "We are honoured to have him back on the team. His counsel will help ensure that we instil in the new company the same values, creativity, and focus on client service for which The Chicago Corporation was previously known.”

Wing started his career in finance in 1960 working for the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has also worked for many major financial organisations including Investors Diversified Services and The Becker Warburg Paribas Group, and has served as a director of the Midwest Stock Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange, and the Securities Industry Association. Wing has been chairman of the New York Stock Exchange regional firms committee, governor of the National Association of Securities Dealers, and a director for both the Futures Industry Association and the National Futures Association.

"After learning what the new team at The Chicago Corporation wanted to do, I was anxious to offer my guidance,” says Wing. "I’ve known many of the managing directors either through working with them at the original company, or from their work at other financial organisations. I know their skills, and also know that middle-market companies really need the kind of expertise the team can offer.”
