Sanne Group Market Insight Report

In this week’s Tuesday podcast, Private Equity Wire spoke with global private equity group Earth Capital’s investment director Avent Bezuidenhoudt, who specialises in green and clean tech and heads up the firm’s impact investments into the water sector.

The timely discussion covered topics including why investors should care more about water related issues, what can be done to encourage sustainable water-related investments, and which geographies will need to invest in water to offset climate change related risks.

In terms of fundraising news, European private credit firm Kartesia held a final close at the hard cap of EUR1.5 billion for the fifth vintage of its flagship Credit Opportunities fund, following the close of its predecessor in 2017 at EUR870 million, while London-based mid-market PE firm Livingbridge raised USD1.2 billion for its Livingbridge 7 fund – its largest fund to date.

Swedish food company Oatly, which is backed by Blackstone, raised USD1.4 billion in its IPO this week, and Brookfield AM is looking to raise capital for its fourth flagship real estate fund and a new environmentally and socially focused Global Transition Fund.

In the sports space, Bundesliga shortlisted KKR and Bridgepoint to potentially acquire a 25 percent stake in its overseas broadcasting rights, while Inter Milan is nearing a USD336 million rescue package by Oaktree Capital Management to improve its balance sheet. As part of the deal, Oaktree would take a 30 percent stake in the club.

And last but not least, Private Equity Wire, in partnership with Bloomberg, has begun the analysis of US private equity fund performance and fundraising ahead of the annual Private Equity Wire US Awards.
