Los Angeles-headquartered fund Ares Management has taken a 33 per cent stake in Spanish football club Atlético Madrid. During the general meeting of the shareholders on Friday, they agreed to a EUR181 million capital increase in which Ares will take part. The club, which plays in La Liga, intends to use the funds to improve its finances following the pandemic fallout.

Meanwhile, Central Europe-based private equity investor Abris Capital Partners has published its latest annual ESG Report, highlighting sustainability and setting out priorities for responsible investment, as well as detailing how its ESG focus supported portfolio companies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
