Secondary considerations

This week we look at the growing popularity of private equity secondary investments, with Cari Lodge, Head of Secondaries at Commonfund Capital, forecasting that secondary market volume is “on track to reach USD100 billion this year”.

We also have news of the latest fund from One Equity Partners which has closed with total capital commitments of USD1.75 billion, plus funds from Sverica Capital Management fund and KGAL Investment Management which have closed at USD450 million and EUR750 million, respectively.

And we also look at new deal research from CEPRES which shows the IRR spread between top performing funds and the market median has significantly increased since the GFC, plus a new study from Mactavish that claims that many private equity firms are not placing enough focus on the quality of insurance cover in place at portfolio companies.
