Mayer Brown adds fund finance partner Liz Soutter

Fund finance partner Liz Soutter has joined Mayer Brown’s Banking & Finance practice in London. She was formerly at Dentons, where she was a partner.

Soutter provides debt financing solutions on both mainstream and alternative asset classes to investment funds across a range of sectors, including private equity and financial institutions. In addition, she has considerable experience advising on investor call bridging, management fee line facilities and portfolio acquisitions. Soutter’s clients include domestic and foreign lenders, borrowers and sponsors.

Co-leader of the Global Fund Finance practice at Mayer Brown, Zac Barnett, says: “We have a preeminent fund practice in the US and in response to the growth of the industry we continue to expand the team globally. Liz has impressive experience representing banks and funds in various fund financings and her arrival enables us to build on our cross-border capabilities and further diversify our European finance offering.”

Iva Philipova, a senior associate in the Fund Finance team, also joined the Firm earlier this month from Reed Smith.

Co-leader of the Global Finance practice at Mayer Brown, Dominic Griffiths, says: “Liz is a welcome addition to the wider finance team as she brings considerable expertise in the broad suite of fund finance products and joins us at a time when we are seeing increased activity in the European market from both established and new fund financiers.”

Soutter’s arrival is the latest in a number of partner appointments to the London office in recent months, including the new private equity head in London, Perry Yam, energy partner Mathew Kidwell, former senior FCA lawyer Guy Wilkes and international project finance partner Kieron Dwyer.
