BerchWood Partners, a global private equity placement agent, has appointed L. Charles Bartz as a partner.

Bartz brings over 30 years of institutional investment experience to BerchWood.

Prior to joining BerchWood, he spent 11 years at C.P. Eaton Partners, where he oversaw the firm’s new business and origination efforts. He worked with a broad range of domestic and international investment strategies and products, including private equity / buyouts, venture capital, mezzanine, distressed debt, infrastructure and real estate.

‘We welcome the addition of such an outstanding private equity professional as Charlie to our team,’ says Dave Berchenbriter, managing partner of BerchWood, who is based in New York. ‘His extensive institutional and private equity relationships will be invaluable to helping us continue to generate high-quality new business prospects.’

Bartz says: ‘I am thrilled to join BerchWood Partners. The firm has an outstanding reputation in the marketplace due to its clearly differentiated strategy, taking on only a select few high-quality mandates each year. In a challenging market environment I am confident that BerchWood’s focus will ensure the success of each of its clients.’

The first ten years of Bartz’s investment career were spent as the lead pension investment officer at The Pillsbury Company and the Continental Can Company. He then moved to a marketing role and represented a variety of international and domestic products at Posthorn Global Asset Management, Creditanstalt Global Asset Management and Washington Square Capital.

In the past 12 months, BerchWood has added four private equity professionals to its London and New York offices, bringing the total number to 14. The firm looks to further its expansion, including the establishment of an office in Asia.
