Future Planet Capital Fund launches with up to USD200m commitment from TW & Partners

TW & Partners (TWP) has committed up to USD200 million to Future Planet Capital’s (FPC) inaugural fund. FPC is the first global platform to invest in leading universities and the “centres of innovation” surrounding them and TWP is sponsored by some of the world’s largest conglomerates and investment groups.

FPC’s mission is to deliver excellent returns whilst creating a lasting impact by profitably addressing humanity’s greatest challenges. TWP has made a pre-launch commitment of USD30 million rising to up to USD200 million at final close. TWP will be a cornerstone investor alongside the Royal Berkshire Pension Fund.

FPC and TWP will form an international innovation partnership investing in and fostering the most dynamic and exciting start-ups from around the world.  TWP’s leading investors and partners are focusing on creating new business models based around sustainability, innovation, and digital strategy and are keen to benefit from FPC’s network.

In turn, TWP will become part of Future Planet’s unique global network of top advisors and leading universities. The network, developed through FPC’s strategic partnerships, counts Lord Norman Foster and Zipcar Founder, Robin Chase, as advisers and includes some of the world’s most highly-regarded universities from Harvard, MIT, Stanford and Berkeley in the US, Tsinghua in China and Oxford and Cambridge in the UK. TWP’s top advisors also include leaders of top companies in Asia, members of Young Presidents’ Organization, US-ASEAN Business Council, as well as Milken Institute.

Lord Foster, Chairman of Future Planet’s Advisory Board, says: “Sustainability and anticipating the future are at the heart of everything I do, both in professional practice and through the Norman Foster Foundation. I believe that connecting the world’s biggest investors with the best minds innovating around the world today is one of the keys to a sustainable future.”

Douglas Hansen-Luke, Executive Chairman at Future Planet Capital, says: “I am delighted that TW Partners will be joining the Fund as a Cornerstone investor. With CP’s vast commercial experience and extensive network across Asia, the partnership will only strengthen Future Planet Capital’s work with top-tier universities in Asia, Europe and the US, and our ability to support the best alumni, technology and life sciences companies profitably impact the world’s biggest challenges.”

Tanawat Wansom, Founder and Chairman, of TW & Partners, and Head of CT Bright, the family office of the CP Group business, declared:

“We are proud that amongst our established global partners, we will be working with Future Planet to access the best and brightest from the world’s universities. It is these centres of innovation that have been at the source of so much of value in today’s world.”
