Reed Smith adds senior counsel in Century City office

Reed Smith has appointed Moshe J Kupietzky, formerly a member of Sidley Austin LLP’s Los Angeles Corporate and Finance practice, as senior counsel in its Century City office.

Kupietzky previously served as head of Sidley’s Los Angeles Corporate and Finance practice for more than 20 years, and he was its Los Angeles office managing partner from 2003–2009.

“Because so many of today’s complex transactions involve both M&A and finance, Moshe’s combined acumen will provide an exceptional and much-needed resource for our clients,” says Cisca M Mok, Managing Partner of the firm’s Century City office. “His decades of experience in film and entertainment financing and M&A transactions are an especially great fit with our office and our global Entertainment & Media Industry Group.”

Over many decades of practice, Kupietzky has built a storied, well-respected reputation as a “go to” lawyer, representing buyers and sellers in major multi-jurisdictional M&A transactions, as well as representing strategic and financial parties in private investment and joint venture transactions. He has more than 40 years of experience representing clients in the music and film industries. Kupietzky’s recent entertainment industry experience includes the acquisition, disposition and financing of multiple high-value music publishing catalogs, film libraries, television production companies and music rights societies. Moshe has also represented major international companies in strategic joint ventures and investments, as well as credit parties in various financings, particularly in the entertainment industry.

“I’ve worked with Reed Smith lawyers over the years, as we’ve helped our clients in common achieve their goals, and I have always been impressed with the quality of the work and collegiality of the culture,” says Kupietzky. “My clients are very happy with my move, and I look forward to expanding my practice further with Reed Smith’s regional experience and global platform.”
