Atrato Group makes four key hires

Atrato Group, an alternative asset management and advisory group specialising in asset backed income strategies, has made four new hires across Compliance, Fund Finance and Fund Management.  

The appointment of John Mahony, Haffiz Kala, Gary Chesterton and Gerald Bishop grows the Atrato Group team to 20 people, with 12 new appointments in the last 12 months.
 
Atrato Capital, an Atrato Group company, is the UK’s leading investment specialist in supermarket real estate. Atrato Capital is the investment adviser to Supermarket Income REIT (SUPR), the only REIT specialising in UK grocery property. SUPR provides secure, long-dated, inflation protected income to investors.
 
Mahony is appointed Head of Compliance and brings eight years’ experience working across the financial services industry, including but not limited to, investment managers, hedge funds, administrators and stock exchanges. Previously, John was Compliance Director at MetLife Investment Management and Chief Compliance Officer at Places for People.  
 
Kala joins Atrato Group as a Director, Fund Finance, with a focus on the finance, tax and operations of Supermarket Income REIT. He has worked in the investment management industry for over 14 years and most recently spent four years at PIMCO, focusing on the financial control and treasury for its private equity, real estate and credit funds. Kala is an ICAEW qualified Chartered Accountant who qualified at PWC.
 
Chesterton also joins the Fund Finance team, as a Manager, and is responsible for the accounting for SUPR. He is an ICAEW qualified Chartered Accountant and has eight years’ experience in financial and accounting services.
 
Bishop is hired as Assistant Director, Fund Management, and is responsible for managing the investment transaction activity for Atrato Group. He has 14 years’ experience in the commercial property investment industry across private equity and institutional investment management firms. Prior to Atrato he held fund management roles at M&G Real Estate as well as Investra Capital. Gerald is a qualified Chartered Surveyor.
 
These latest hires follow the recent appointment of Max Kinghorn as Managing Director, Long Income, and Carcie Rogers as Head of Investor Relations.
