Central Park Group adds to private equity team

Central Park Group, LLC, an independent investment advisory firm delivering access to premier institutional private equity, hedge fund, real estate and fund-of-funds talent, has appointed Roger Lengyel, formerly a senior investment professional at Fortress Investment Group, as Managing Director, Head of Private Equity Secondaries.

Lengyel will further expand the depth and breadth of secondary investments, including an emphasis on GP-led transactions, available to Central Park Group clients. Secondary investments are not typically accessible to private clients and smaller institutional investors.

Lengyel joins Central Park Group from Fortress Investment Group LLC, where he was a senior investment professional responsible for sourcing, underwriting and executing acquisitions of undervalued and operationally intensive private assets, including secondaries. He held similar senior positions in the private equity groups of JP Morgan Asset Management and Bear Stearns Asset Management. Prior to that Lengyel worked in corporate M&A as well as in equity research covering the gaming, lodging and leisure sector at Bear Stearns & Co. Lengyel began his career in the Corporate & Investment Banking division of Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. He received an AB in English from Colgate University and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School.

“Central Park Group has played a pioneering role in making alternative investments, and private equity in particular, available to investors who have typically not had access,” says Lengyel. “The firm’s strong leadership, entrepreneurial foundation and relentless focus on client experience, drew me to Central Park Group. I am excited to help build on the Firm’s success to date.”

Central Park Group was founded to serve the increasing demand for alternative investments among high net worth and smaller institutional investors. Central Park Group’s founders created many of the groundbreaking fund structures now used industry-wide to provide private clients access to strategies historically available only to larger institutional investors. Over more than 25 years, Central Park Group founders have invested more than USD15 billion in private equity, hedge funds, real estate and funds-of-funds on behalf of investors.

“Since its 2006 inception, Central Park Group has focused on bringing clients timely investments advised or sub-advised by top institutional managers,” says Mitchell Tanzman, Co-CEO, Co-CIO of Central Park Group. “Private equity secondaries are an important component of our mission and opportunity set. I am confident that Roger’s expertise and creativity will complement and enhance Central Park Group’s ability to offer our clients attractive secondary investment opportunities.”

“Central Park Group has long been able to incorporate secondary investing, and its benefits, into our offerings,” says Greg Brousseau, Co-CEO, Co-CIO of Central Park Group. “Roger’s appointment marks an important step in furthering Central Park Group’s continued efforts to offer innovative best-in-class investments.”
