ARQIS advises OCELL on seed investment

ARQIS has advised Munich-based AI startup OCELL on its seed financing round. With software for digital forestry, OCELL helps forest managers to achieve more efficiency and sustainability.

Business angels from the BayStartUP investor network are now investing a high six figure sum in this technology under the leadership of Andreas Kupke (Finanzcheck) and Wolfgang Seibold together with the TUM Initiative for Industrial Innovators. The capital injection is supplemented by a funding amount of over EUR500,000. The capital will be used for product and quality improvement as well as the expansion of the communications, marketing and sales departments.

The startup OCELL around the founders Christian Decher, David Dohmen and Felix Horvat has developed the “Dynamic Forest” app. The application provides optimal data for scientifically based management decisions and smooth processes for forest managers. In addition to the digitisation of existing analogue data sources of the customers, OCELL relies on aerial photographs taken with highly efficient microlight aircraft. For the evaluation of the forest areas, OCELL relies on artificial intelligence.

“OCELL excited us at ARQIS not only as a deep-tech topic, but also because we were able to act very hands-on as deal counsel for the seed financing round for the founding team and the experienced business angels involved,” says Prof Dr Christoph von Einem, who was lead advisor. “In the context of this financing round, we were able to implement for the first time the GESSI contract structure, which we co-developed, largely without a notary,” he adds.
