Baird Capital closes second global fund at over USD340m

Baird Capital, the global private equity and venture capital arm of Baird, has held the final close for its second Global Fund (Global Fund II) with over USD340 million in committed capital.

The fund makes buyout and growth equity investments of USD15 million to USD40 million in Technology & Services and Industrial Technology & Solutions sectors in the US, UK and Asia. Target opportunities have EBITDA of USD5 million to USD15 million. The first Global Fund closed in 2017 with USD310 million in committed capital.

Baird Capital leverages its global investment platform to target founder-owned businesses with global growth opportunities. The fund differentiates itself in the lower-middle market with the ability to flex capital deployment across geographies and sectors to take advantage of market dislocations.

Baird Capital has already made four investments from Global Fund II, including US-based global pharma services consultancy Blue Matter; UK-based eCube which provides aircraft storage, disassembly, and recycling services; US-based Azzur Group which provides GXP advisory and consulting services to life science companies; and UK-based Prescient Healthcare Group, a leading product strategy consultancy to the global biopharmaceutical industry.

“I am very proud of our long-tenured investment team and their commitment and focus on driving meaningful investment gains for our investors,” says Gordon Pan, President of Baird Capital. “We believe our global footprint combined with our significant investment experience and operating focus positions us well to assist lower-middle market companies to navigate challenges and take advantage of globalisation opportunities.”

“We are pleased to celebrate Baird Capital in the close of Global Fund II,” says Steve Booth, President, CEO & Chairman of Baird. “Baird is proud to be a meaningful investor in the Baird Capital funds, whose other investors include third-party institutions, high-net-worth clients and Baird associates. Since its inception, Baird Capital and related legacy entities have raised and managed approximately USD3.9 billion and made more than 325 investments – that underscores the strength of Baird Capital’s unique approach, and we’re excited to see what the team does next.”
