LDC exits Aker Systems

Leading mid-market private equity firm LDC has exited its minority investment in cloud technology company Aker Systems to Abry Partners. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2017, Aker Systems designs, builds and operates ground-breaking ultra-secure public cloud environments and advanced data infrastructure platforms.

LDC invested in Aker Systems in 2020, supporting investment in research and development to drive organic growth, as well as the extension of Aker’s team of highly experienced experts. The business has since grown by more than 50 per cent.

Darren Thomas, CEO of Aker Systems, says: “Over the last few years we have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in the public cloud by delivering proven enterprise-class data infrastructure for customers in highly-regulated environments. The support from LDC throughout our partnership has helped us to drive growth and as we move forwards with Abry Partners, we’re well-placed to continue onto the next phase of our journey.”

Chris Baker, Investment Director at LDC, adds: “Aker helps its customers achieve things which are usually not considered possible, providing innovative and cutting-edge technology products which help enterprise clients unlock the potential in their data estate. It has been a privilege to partner with Darren and his team.”

Raymond James acted as exclusive financial advisor to Aker Systems.
