The transaction was announced on 26 May and is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. O’Melveny advised Broadcom on the deal, while VMware was represented by Gibson Dunn.
Based in San Jose, California, Broadcom develops and supplies a broad range of semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions. The company’s solutions include data centre networking and storage, enterprise, mainframe and cyber security software focused on automation, monitoring and security, smartphone components, telecoms, and factory automation.
Based in Palo Alto, California, VMware is provider of multi-cloud services for all apps, enabling digital innovation with enterprise control.
