Carlyle acquires majority stake in Indian beauty co

The Carlyle Group has paid around $300 million to acquire a majority (70%) stake in VLCC, an Indian beauty care and wellness solutions provider, according to a report by Reuters.

The Carlyle Group has paid around $300 million to acquire a majority (70%) stake in VLCC, an Indian beauty care and wellness solutions provider, according to a report by Reuters.

The report cites a statement from Carlyle as confirming that the transaction will be completed by funds managed and advised by entities affiliated with Carlyle Asia Partners.

Carlyle also revealed that, post-acquisition, VLCC founders Vandana Luthra and Mukesh Luthra will continue to hold a significant stake in the company.

KPMG India acted as the adviser to VLCC and its founders on the transaction.
