Private investment major Blackstone is to acquire a majority stake in healthcare consulting and advisory group Chartis from Audax Private Equity, with Audax set to maintain a minority equity holding in the business. The investment is part of Blackstone’s core private equity strategy, known for partnering with businesses over extended periods. According to a press statement, the partnership with Blackstone is expected to "enhance Chartis' capabilities in areas such as strategic, digital, and clinical transformation, enabling the firm to better serve healthcare providers, payers, and technology innovators". The investment will also support the expansion of the Chartis family of companies, which currently includes HealthScape Advisors, Jarrard, and Greeley. Since Audax Private Equity’s initial investment in 2019, Chartis has made seven strategic acquisitions, broadening its capabilities and market reach. The firm has also established several research centres to address vulnerabilities in healthcare. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of 2024, pending regulatory approval, have not been disclosed. Chartis and Audax were advised by Lincoln International, BofA Securities, Ropes & Gray and Winston & Strawn. Blackstone was advised by Goldman Sachs & Co and Kirkland & Ellis.
