Aston Martin F1 team close to agreeing stake sale at $1.5bn-$2bn valuation

The Aston Martin Formula One team is on the verge of a stake sale to two US-based private investment funds – venture capital firm Accel Partners and private credit manager HPS Investments Partners – in a deal that could value the team at between £1.5bn and £2bn, according to a report from Sky News.

The report states that an official announcement is expected soon on a deal that would see the firms inject “hundreds of millions of pounds” in exchange for a 20% to 25% stake in the F1 team.

The move follows Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll’s sale of a minority stake in the Aston Martin F1 team to US private equity firm Arctos Partners late last year – the first time Stroll had sold shares – which valued the team at around £1bn.

As part of the new agreement, HPS is expected to refinance debt tied to Aston Martin F1’s Silverstone technology campus, a key part of the team’s infrastructure, Sky News reported.

The Raine Group is advising Aston Martin on the transaction. Representatives for the Aston Martin Aramco F1 team were unavailable for immediate comment, while HPS declined to comment, and Accel did not respond to inquiries, according to the report.
