Carlyle and Stonepeak strike €1.5bn Forgital deal

Global investment firm Carlyle has agreed to sell Forgital, a provider of advanced aerospace and industrial forged products, to US alternative investment firm Stonepeak in a deal that reportedly values the business at more than €1.5bn, including debt.

The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, subject to customary regulatory approvals.

Carlyle bought Forgital in 2019. Founded in 1873 by the Spezzapria family and headquartered in Italy, Forgital has facilities in Italy, France, and the US, and over 1100 employees. Its products are sold to clients in over 40 countries.

Under Carlyle’s ownership, Forgital expanded its leadership team, implemented efficiency initiatives during Covid-19, diversified its customer base, and grew its order book with new products and markets.

JP Morgan Securities acted as advisor to Carlyle and sole financial advisor on the transaction. Latham & Watkins served as legal counsel to Carlyle.
