IK Partners, through its Small Cap III Fund, has signed an agreement to invest in Kestrel Capital, a Dublin-based independent wealth management firm. The investment, made from IK’s dedicated Development Capital pool, marks the private equity firm’s first platform deal in Ireland.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, and completion remains subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Founded in 2015, Kestrel Capital provides bespoke investment management and financial planning services to a diverse client base that includes high-net-worth individuals, family offices, corporations, charities, foundations, and pension schemes. The firm, which operates under MiFID regulation, specialises in discretionary portfolio management tailored to individual client needs.
Led by co-founders John Crowe, Danny McGinley, and Kenny Hope, Kestrel has built its proposition around personalised advice, disciplined portfolio construction, and robust oversight. Since its inception, the firm has grown its assets under management to over €1 billion and is positioned for continued expansion, underpinned by its differentiated offering and the ongoing growth of private wealth in Ireland.
IK’s investment will support Kestrel’s next phase of growth, including the enhancement of its service capabilities, further investment in operations, and talent acquisition. The firm also plans to pursue targeted M&A opportunities in what remains a fragmented market.
