Sullivan Street Partners’ portfolio company UK Addiction Treatment Group, a UK provider of private residential addiction services, has completed the add-on acquisition of rehabilitation centre The Providence Projects.
This marks UKAT’s first acquisition since 2020 and comes within the first year of Sullivan Street’s ownership. Sullivan Street is a UK-based private equity firm specialising in mid-market control buy-outs.
Founded in 1996, Providence is recognised for its reputable and results-driven care, supporting thousands of individuals through addiction treatment. It complements UKAT’s service, which, since its founding in 2012, specialises in providing comprehensive care and rehabilitation for alcoholism, substance abuse, and behavioural health conditions.
The 44-bed Providence facility in Bournemouth expands UKAT’s footprint on the South Coast and introduces a distinct, community-based treatment model to the group. This broadens UKAT’s clinical offering, enables a dedicated secondary care pathway to support long-term recovery and improves outcomes in a more affordable and sustainable way.
Providence’s care model provides a scalable, repeatable platform for community-based services aligned with evolving healthcare trends and adjacent behavioural and mental health sectors. With this acquisition, UKAT increases its total bed capacity to 244, enhancing patient outcomes and further reinforcing its position as the UK’s largest private addiction treatment provider.
The integration process is underway, with the team from Providence joining UKAT to strengthen a shared care-first culture and embed best practice across the combined group. This includes the recent appointment of non-executive director, Joy Chamberlain, under Sullivan Street Partners stewardship who brings 27 years of senior leadership experience in the mental health sector.
UKAT and Sullivan Street were supported by advisors Taylor Wessing (legal counsel), RSM (financial diligence), PwC (tax diligence and structuring) and HWF (W&I).
