TMRS appoints ex-Apollo exec as Credit Director

The Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) has named Annika Kim as Director of Credit, as the $40bn pension fund continues to deepen its alternatives bench with senior talent from top-tier institutions, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Kim joins from Apollo Global Management and previously held investment roles at Carlyle Group and Goldman Sachs. In her new role, she will oversee TMRS’s credit investment strategy and support broader portfolio initiatives, according to Chief Investment Officer Yup S. Kim.

TMRS serves over 260,000 members across 940+ Texas municipalities and maintains a 20% target allocation to private equity, alongside growing exposure to private credit.

The appointment follows a string of recent hires at the pension, including former CDPQ private equity lead Philip Hunter O’Brien and ex-Searchlight Capital investor Isidora Stankovic as Director of Private Equity.

The hires reflect TMRS’s continued push to build a high-calibre in-house investment team to execute across private markets.

Neither the fund nor Kim provided comment at the time of publication.
