Carlyle, CVC partner for potential €1bn Bauwatch takeover

Private equity firms Carlyle Group and CVC Capital Partners are considering a joint bid for European security systems provider Bauwatch, according to a report by Bloomberg citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.

The pair have been discussing a potential transaction with Bauwatch owner Franz Haniel & Cie, the investment holding company of Germany’s Haniel family, the sources said.

The deal could value Bauwatch at about €1bn, although negotiations over the price are ongoing and no agreement has been reached, they added. The discussions remain preliminary and there is no guarantee that a transaction will be completed.

Representatives for Carlyle, CVC and Franz Haniel reportedly declined to comment.

Bauwatch specialises in mobile video surveillance and temporary security solutions, serving customers across sectors including construction, real estate and events. The company operates in more than 10 European markets.

Franz Haniel acquired Bauwatch from private equity investor Nordian Capital in 2021 for an undisclosed sum.
