Partners Group has opened a new office in Stockholm led by Carina Spitzkopf, head of Direct Lending DACH & Nordics, as the global private markets investor strengthens its long-term commitment to the Nordic region.
The Stockholm base will support the firm’s investment activities across the Nordics while bringing its investment professionals closer to clients, institutional investors, portfolio companies and local partners.
Partners Group has invested across infrastructure, real estate and private credit in the region, with previous investments spanning digital infrastructure, logistics and technology.
Its Nordic infrastructure exposure has included atNorth, a data centre platform operating across the region, and VSB Group, a renewable energy business with operations across Europe. Partners Group recently closed its latest direct infrastructure programme with more than $15bn in commitments.
The expansion adds to Partners Group’s established European network, which includes offices in Zug, London, Guernsey, Luxembourg, Milan, Munich and Paris. The firm manages approximately $186bn in assets globally.
Spitzkopf said the Nordic region had become an increasingly important private markets centre in Europe, supported by a stable economy, strong innovation and a large pool of mid-market businesses.
She added that while private credit represented a significant opportunity, Partners Group also sees potential for broader investment across the region over the long term, with a local presence expected to improve its ability to identify opportunities and support portfolio companies.
The Stockholm opening also reflects the growing importance of the Nordics as a source of institutional capital, according to Oscar Huggare, regional head of Nordic Client Solutions at Partners Group.
Huggare said the new office would allow the firm to become a more active participant in the region’s private markets ecosystem by developing relationships with local institutions, operators and advisers.
The move gives Partners Group a permanent base from which to expand both investment and capital-raising activity across the Nordic markets, as private markets continue to play a larger role in regional institutional portfolios.
