Bridgepoint and Astorg are considering a potential sale of Irish financial software provider Fenergo at a valuation of more than £2bn, according to a report by Reuters citing unnamed people familiar with the matter.
The private equity firms have held preliminary discussions with prospective buyers and are expected to appoint an investment bank later this year, potentially setting up a sale process that could draw interest from both financial and strategic bidders.
A formal process could begin as early as the first quarter of 2027, although no final decision has been made, the sources said.
Bridgepoint and Astorg reportedly declined to comment, while Fenergo reportedly did not respond to requests for comment.
Dublin-based Fenergo provides software to help banks and insurers meet regulatory requirements and manage client lifecycle processes. Its platform is used by more than 300 major financial institutions globally for functions including client onboarding, know-your-customer checks and data management.
Fenergo could attract interest from information services companies and exchange operators, the sources said, reflecting the strategic value of its regulatory technology offering.
Bridgepoint and Astorg acquired Fenergo from Insight Partners in 2021 for an undisclosed amount. The company is led by CEO Mark Murphy.
Since the acquisition, Fenergo has expanded its offering to include artificial intelligence capabilities. It recently launched an agentic AI orchestration platform aimed at automating processes such as client onboarding and periodic compliance reviews.
Fenergo reported a 7.5% increase in revenue to €149.4m for the year ended March 2025, supported by higher subscription income and customer renewals. Operating profit rose 66% to €20.9m over the same period.
