Brookfield Asset Management expects demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure to continue exceeding supply through the end of the decade, supporting opportunities for private capital investment, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Chief Executive Connor Teskey reportedly said demand for computing capacity and energy infrastructure remains substantially ahead of available supply, despite growing concerns over the scale and financing of AI-related capital expenditure.
The rapid expansion of AI infrastructure has also increased demand for electricity generation, transmission networks and related energy services, creating investment opportunities beyond data centres themselves.
Teskey’s comments come as investors scrutinise the growing use of debt to finance AI infrastructure, amid concerns over project economics, borrowing costs and the timing of returns.
