Law firm Linklaters has advised Quadrangle Capital Partners and GS Capital Partners on the NOK5.8bn (EUR724m) secondary buyout from Candover of Get, which provides cable TV, high-speed broadband internet and telephony services to residential customers in Norway.
According to Linklaters, the transaction is one of the largest private equity deals completed in Europe since the credit crunch, and the largest deal completed in the Nordic region since the summer.
It also marks the first time Linklaters has advised both Quadrangle Capital Partners in Europe and GS Capital Partners from the London head office. The deal team was led by London private equity partner Ian Bagshaw and Krister Hansen, head of private equity in Stockholm, supported by London associate Alex Woodward, with the banking team led by London banking partner David Ereira.
‘Our ability to manage and co-ordinate the intense bidding process was key to this deal, as well as our ability to provide a London and Nordic team to cover the significant aspects of this buy-out,’ Bagshaw says.
The Get acquisition is the third major transaction completed in as many weeks by the Linklaters private equity practice, which also advised on two major international deals for Dubai International Capital, completed in just a week earlier this month.
