Morgan Stanley Private Equity continues to build global team

Andy Shinn and Aaron Sack have joined Morgan Stanley Private Equity as Executive Directors.

Andy Shinn and Aaron Sack have joined Morgan Stanley Private Equity as Executive Directors. Both Shinn, who joined from The Carlyle Group where he recently led the acquisition of Home Depot Supply Inc prior to his departure, and Sack, who joined from Apollo Advisors, are based in New York.

Morgan Stanley Private Equity has grown its team of senior professionals since naming Global Co-heads Steve Trevor and Alan Jones at the end of 2006. European Co-heads Brian Magnus and Graham Keniston-Cooper were named in the summer of 2007; and Managing Directors Eric Fry, Michael Hehn, and Operating Partner and Managing Director Gary Matthews were announced in the fall of 2007. Morgan Stanley Private Equity now has offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo and invests in large and middle-market private equity transactions globally on behalf of its clients.

‘Attracting talent on the level of Andy and Aaron further secures our foothold in the private equity space,’ says Steve Trevor, co-head of both Morgan Stanley Private Equity and the Merchant Banking Division. ‘Since the start of 2007, Morgan Stanley has been focused on building a world-class private equity platform for third-party investors, which has at its center professionals uniquely positioned to identify and capitalize on leveraged buyouts, corporate divestitures, sponsored recapitalizations, joint ventures and other direct investments across various sectors.’

Shinn joined The Carlyle Group in 1998 and was involved in transactions in a wide range of industries including financial services, aerospace/defense, industrial and consumer/retail in the United States and Asia. Shinn served on the Board of Directors of Standard Aero Holdings Inc. and on the Executive Management Committee to the Board of Directors of KorAm Bank. He recently led the acquisition of Home Depot Supply Inc. for The Carlyle Group prior to his recent departure.

Sack joined Apollo Investment Management LP in 2005 where he was involved in making equity and debt investments in various industries including industrial, consumer and hospitality. Prior to joining Apollo, Sack was a vice president in Goldman Sachs’ Principal Investment Area concentrating on private equity investments in industrial and natural resources companies.
