Alternative fund of funds manager HRJ Capital has announced the final closing of HRJ Special Opportunities Fund I, a fund of private equity funds, with USD195m of commitments from a diverse group of investors.

Limited partners include endowments, foundations, pension plans, family offices, investment advisors and high net worth individuals. A significant portion of the investor base is located outside the US, including Germany, the UK and France.

The fund is currently fully committed to a diversified portfolio of US and international private equity funds focused on distressed debt, restructuring, turnarounds and special situations.

‘We have built a global portfolio with commitments to managers that specialise in distressed and turnaround situations,’ says HRJ Capital managing director Duran Curis, who oversees the special opportunities investment portfolio. We believe that they are now investing capital in a very attractive investment environment.’

HRJ Capital has 55 employees at its headquarters in San Francisco and offices in Chicago, New York, Zürich and Shanghai. The firm has a total of USD2.3bn in assets under management in alternative funds of fund in the venture capital, buyout, real estate and hedge fund sectors.
