Octopus Private Equity, a leading lower mid-market investor, has announced the appointment of Mark Fowler as investment manager.
Fowler, 39, will be based in Octopus’s Leeds office, opened last year, with Richard Taylor, where he will focus on investment opportunities in northern England.
Fowler joins from KPMG, where he spent eight years in lead advisory corporate finance and worked on a range of mid-market transactions including fundraisings, management buyouts, management buy-ins, business and corporate disposals, and corporate acquisitions.
Fowler acted for a range of high-profile clients including private equity houses, public and private companies and private company shareholders, completing 13 transactions with deal values ranging from GBP6m to GBP90m.
Before joining KPMG, Fowler was an executive at Casson Beckham, a corporate finance advisory practice, working on fundraising assignments and a private equity buyout. He began his career at chartered accountants Alexander & Co, progressing to audit senior by the time he left in 1999.
Richard Taylor, head of Octopus’s northern office, says: ‘With Mark’s track record and contacts in the Manchester corporate finance community, his appointment further strengthens our reach in the north of England. His experience will give Octopus added vigour in identifying investment opportunities in such a fertile region for entrepreneurial, fast growing companies.
Says Fowler: ‘I have been impressed with the quality of the deals Octopus have completed and the returns achieved for investors. I am very pleased to be joining Octopus at this exciting time and looking forward to playing my part in continuing the successes achieved to date by expanding its presence in the North.’
