Silver Lake Sumeru, the mid-market investment group belonging to private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, has appointed John Brennan, a former senior vice-president of Adobe Systems, as a managing director in its Silicon Valley office.
Brennan, 43, has more than 15 years of technology and investment experience and will be based in Silver Lake’s office in Menlo Park, California, where he will have a full range of investment responsibilities for Silver Lake Sumeru.
‘John’s significant software and services operating skills, combined with his transaction and investment experience, are a great match for us and will augment and complement the capabilities of our group,’ says Ajay Shah, the managing director who heads Silver Lake Sumeru.

He previously held several senior positions at Adobe, most recently as the senior vice-president responsible for Adobe’s platform software business unit, having earlier led Adobe’s corporate development function as well as the creative professional business unit.
At Hewlett-Packard, he was a senior vice-president for small and medium-sized business operations, responsible for sales and marketing of a USD20bn portfolio of products, directed the activities of the Procurve networking business unit and led Hewlett-Packard’s corporate development functions.
Brennan earlier spent eight years with Accenture – then Andersen Consulting – in its electronics and hi-tech business practice, and was a portfolio manager at Brown Brothers Harriman.
