Rye, New York-based private equity firm SFW Capital Partners, which provides capital and support to mid-sized companies in select segments of the healthcare and high-value industrial sectors, has announced the closing of its private equity fund with commitments totalling more than USD300m.
SFW is led by a team of partners who have invested together in their target sectors for over 15 years: Thomas Salice, Roger Freeman and Norm Wells, all former senior investment professionals at AEA Investors, Casey Lynch, also an AEA Investors alumnus and most recently a partner at Parthenon Capital, and David Webb, who previously led Merrill Lynch’s financial sponsors group.
SFW partners have played integral roles as investors in the growth of companies including Waters Corporation, Mettler-Toledo International, CasTech Aluminum Group, Easco, Manchester Tank & Equipment and Sovereign Specialty Chemicals.
SFW typically invests between USD15m and USD75 to support the growth of mid-sized companies in its focus sectors, with a particular emphasis on measurement and diagnostics, highly-engineered industrial products and related services.
The firm invests in established companies including family businesses, public companies and corporate division carve-outs where there is some history of profitability and the company has a solid position in its core markets.
‘We are pleased that the fund has attracted an outstanding group of investors,’ Salice says. ‘Our deep understanding and extensive experience in our focus segments allows us to contribute well informed, relevant expertise to each company.
‘Over the past 15 years, we have worked closely with the management teams of some of the most successful companies in these segments to develop growth strategies, improve operations and identify high potential add-on acquisitions. We believe our experience, network of relationships and focused investment approach will serve our investors well.’
SFW’s investors include endowments, foundations, family offices and financial institutions. The chief executives, senior managers and industry executives that SFW partners have worked with in the past are collectively one of the largest investors in the fund. Several SFW investors have active co-investment and debt programmes that provide significant additional resources for larger investments, add-on acquisitions and other capital programmes.
