London-based Electra Partners has announced it has identified Steadfast Capital as its German investment partner of choice and has invested EUR45m in Steadfast Capital Fund I, subject to German competition clearance and registration. Electra Partners already has investment partnerships with TCR Capital in France, Sinergo SGR in Italy and N+1 in Spain.
Steadfast Capital invests in medium-sized businesses in German-speaking and Dutch markets. Fund I has a portfolio of 13 investments in small to medium-sized companies and other private equity funds, across a broad range of business types and sectors.
‘This investment offers Electra Partners the opportunity to invest further in the German market and is consistent with our strategy to build successful partnerships with high quality managers in the European mid-market buyout sector,’ says partner Tim Syder.
Electra Partners is an independent private equity fund manager with GBP1bn in funds under management at the end of March 2008. During its 15 years of investment, the firm has invested more than GBP3bn in private equity investments, typically with an investment size of between GBP20m and GBP75m in transactions with an enterprise value of GBP60m to GBP200m.
Listed vehicle Electra Private Equity, which has existed for more than 30 years, seeks to achieve an annual return on equity of between 10 and 15 per cent over the long term by investing in a portfolio of private equity assets, and achieved an annualised return of 22.6 per cent over the five years to the end of March.
