Espírito Santo launches New York branch

Espírito Santo Investment, a Portuguese investment bank, has opened its New York branch.

Espírito Santo Investment, a Portuguese investment bank, has opened its New York branch.

The office will work with clients in the US, Canada and Latin America, offering advisory and other services in structured finance, treasury and trading, equity capital markets, debt capital markets and mergers and acquisitions.

‘Our New York office is important to the expansion of our global investment and banking expertise,’ says Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Salgado (pictured), chief executive of Banco Espírito Santo Group and chairman of the board of Espírito Santo Investment. ‘Our financial strength, stability, and history of success is the value we bring to our clients.’

Espírito Santo Investment is the investment banking arm of Banco Espírito Santo, the second-largest bank in Portugal. The bank operates branches in Spain, the UK and Poland, with subsidiaries in Brazil and Ireland.

‘We have assembled an accomplished team of experienced executives in New York to build out our local network and leverage our global capabilities,’ says José Maria Espírito Santo Silva Ricciardi, chief executive of Espírito Santo Investment. ‘Backed by our bank’s considerable assets, we will provide clients with access to the growth prospects of this market.’

The New York operations will be led by Moses Dodo, general manager for the branch and member of the board of Espírito Santo Investment. Team members include: Nuno Cardoso, deputy general manager; Carl Adams, head of structured finance; Andrea Czarniak, head of capital markets sales; Daniel Pyne, head of mergers and acquisitions; and Norberto Zaiet, head of global markets treasury and trading.
