Donald T Pascal named president of Commonfund Capital

Donald T Pascal has been promoted to president of Commonfund Capital, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Commonfund focused on private equity, venture capital and natural resources investing that has managed more than USD13.5bn in committed capital since inception.

Pascal succeeds Susan J Carter as president. Carter will retain her role as chief executive officer of Commonfund Capital with overall strategic leadership of the group. She will continue to be actively engaged with investors and managers.

“Don and I have worked closely together for the last 15 years, and I am confident that Commonfund Capital will rise to even greater heights with Don’s leadership,” says Carter.

Pascal says: “I am grateful for the confidence that Sue and Commonfund have shown in me and I look forward to this new challenge. In my new role I will continue to advance the mission of Commonfund Capital, and as a result, offer clients the opportunities and strategies to help them reach their investment objectives.”

Pascal joined Commonfund in 1998. He previously worked at Victory Ventures, Noel Group and The Prospect Group, all private capital funds organised by Louis Marx, Jr. Previously, he worked at EM Warburg Pincus and Strategic Planning Associates. He has 30 years of direct private capital and multi-manager investment experience, including sourcing, negotiating, and monitoring direct investments.

Pascal is presently a member of the advisory boards of several leading private capital limited partnerships. He is also a member of the Investment Committee for The Hotchkiss School and a director of Mallard, a wholly owned investment subsidiary of The Dietrich Foundation.

Commonfund president and chief executive Verne O. Sedlacek says: “Sue Carter has cultivated Commonfund Capital into one of the world’s leading private capital firms by focusing on investment quality over asset growth. She has developed an exceptional team, which today has never been stronger, and I look forward to continuing to work with both Sue and Don in the years ahead to maintain Commonfund Capital’s market leadership.”
