Harvard Business School (HBS) will host Private Equity and Venture Capital, an executive education leadership development programme taking place from October 27-31, on the HBS campus.
Designed for experienced executives in the investment industry, this in-depth programme will focus on developing adept leaders able to navigate the challenges of recent shifts in the investment landscape.
As capital flow to the industry renews, the course will emphasise proven strategies and the development of practical skills that will allow firms to produce high-yield returns in today’s evolving global market. Addressing a range of models from venture capital to growth equity and leveraged buyouts, participants will work closely with experienced HBS faculty and industry peers. The programme provides hands-on learning experiences that will fine-tune the investment expertise needed to sustain an organisation’s portfolio and global strategic position.
“We developed Private Equity and Venture Capital to provide experienced executives the opportunity to improve best practices across all phases of investment—from negotiation and deal-making to portfolio management and problem-solving,” says Das Narayandas, senior associate dean and chair of executive education and publishing. “Leveraging the experience of HBS faculty, this programme navigates the challenges facing private equity firms in today’s market of low interest rates and increased opportunity in emerging markets. Participants will discover ways to enhance their strategic thinking and sharpen their investment portfolio management skills.”
Over the course of Private Equity and Venture Capital, participants will use HBS Professor G. Felda Hardymon’s Private Equity Game Simulation. This multiyear investment simulation pairs participating teams against their programme peers in simulated investment scenarios, examining risk and reward and also strategies to build firm and fund reputation. Coupled with real-world problem-solving exercises, the programme will improve participating investors’ ability to manage and grow capital flow.
“Through in-depth simulation exercises and a focus on learning from real-world scenarios, the Private Equity and Venture Capital program challenges participants to re-think investment strategies and develop innovative approaches to portfolio management that take advantage of shifts in the investment,” says Josh Lerner, Jacob H Schiff Professor of Investment and chair of Private Equity and Venture Capital. “Today’s competitive global market demands that fund managers adapt quickly. Private Equity and Venture Capital equips participants to return to their firms with new insights on enhancing portfolios and strategies for navigating cultural and financial intricacies in emerging markets.”
